About this webinar
Transitions can be some of the most challenging moments in a toddler's day. Moving from playtime to cleanup, gathering for circle time, or preparing to go outside can lead to frustration, resistance, and big emotions. But what if a simple song could help make these everyday moments easier?
Music, rhythm, and repetition can help young children anticipate what comes next, regulate their emotions, and feel more confident navigating daily routines. In this interactive webinar, Cara Tyrrell will explore how educators can use singing, signing, movement, and melody to turn challenging transitions into opportunities for connection, cooperation, and joyful learning.
Through practical demonstrations and interactive activities, participants will examine familiar classroom songs, explore how rhythm and intentional language support toddlers' developmental needs, and discover ways to adapt transition songs for their own classrooms. Whether you're supporting cleanup, circle time, lining up, or other daily routines, you'll leave with practical, teacher-tested strategies to make transitions smoother, more predictable, and more engaging for diverse learners.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
Identify how music, rhythm, and repetition can support toddlers' emotional regulation, engagement, and cooperation during classroom transitions.
Evaluate existing classroom transition songs based on their use of rhythm, language, movement, and developmental appropriateness.
Select or adapt transition songs that incorporate singing, signing, or movement to support specific classroom routines and diverse learning needs.
