About this webinar
How can early childhood educators set firm boundaries while maintaining warm, trusting relationships with the children in their care? When challenging behaviors arise, the words educators choose can make the difference between escalating a power struggle and creating an opportunity for connection and cooperation.
Effective classroom management requires more than rules and routines. It depends on strong teacher-child relationships, clear expectations, and the ability to respond to challenging situations with compassion and consistency.
In this interactive webinar, Cara Tyrrell will explore how everyday language influences children's responses to boundaries and how small shifts in communication can help educators build trust, reduce power struggles, and encourage cooperation. Participants will learn a practical six-step framework, grounded in research on emotional intelligence, secure relationships, and early language development, for setting and maintaining boundaries while acknowledging children's emotions and supporting their developing self-regulation skills.
Through real-world classroom examples, guided reflection, and practical demonstrations, educators will practice replacing reactive language with responsive communication strategies. You'll leave with actionable tools and sentence starters to establish clear expectations, confidently navigate challenging moments, and create a calm, connected, and supportive classroom environment.
