About this webinar
Fathers and father figures play important roles in children's development, yet many early childhood programs unintentionally create environments where they feel overlooked, excluded, or unsure of how to participate. Traditional approaches to family engagement often focus on mothers as primary caregivers, missing opportunities to build meaningful relationships with fathers and other important adults in children's lives.
Join Amanda Quiroz-Guajardo, an early childhood consultant and trainer with more than 30 years of experience in family engagement and child abuse prevention, to explore what it takes to create early learning environments where fathers and father figures feel welcomed, respected, and valued. Drawing on culturally responsive and family-centered approaches, Amanda will guide participants in examining how personal assumptions, communication practices, cultural expectations, and organizational policies influence father engagement.
Throughout this interactive session, participants will explore common barriers to involvement, challenge deficit-based perspectives, and identify practical strategies for building authentic partnerships with fathers and families. Special attention will be given to diverse family structures, caregiver boundaries, and family safety, recognizing that meaningful engagement must honor each family's unique circumstances.
Walk away with actionable strategies to move beyond simply inviting fathers to participate and toward creating a culture of belonging where fathers are valued partners in their children's early learning and development.
