The explosion of early literacy materials for young children is a real boon to busy for early childhood teachers. But the abundance also comes with a responsibility to make the best choices about which materials to select and use with young children. This webinar describes an easy-to use tool, referred to as ELMS, for reviewing the quality of early literacy program materials. The Early Literacy Materials Selector (ELMS) tool is reliable, valid and practical. It helps teachers check and critique quality features of curriculum materials intended for use in early literacy instruction.
In the webinar we discuss:
Why quality materials are important.
How to inventory materials you have (and don’t).
How to find instructional gaps in the materials you are using.
What you can do to improve the quality of the early literacy materials in your program.
