The Evanston Public Library Blueberry Committee puts in 13 months of work to read all the nature and planet books for kids 3 and up for a given year and then picks out the very best! They also curate a list of the best nature board books for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Learn about the Blueberry Awards, an annual resource for your work with kids. Blueberry Committee members, Betsy Bird, Martha Meyer and Bridget Petrites will share book talks of their favorites from the 2023 Blueberry Awards and from the year's best board books for infants through 8 year olds. Find out how you can get the Blueberry book titles and the Blueberry flyer each year before Earth Day to share with your teachers and families. Learn how you can use the Blueberry Awards to partner with our local ecology center or parks department. Don’t miss out on this simple to use, simple to support booklist for you and your kids & teachers!
Objectives:
Learn about the best NEW nature books for young kids from enthusiastic and influential librarians so you are ready for story times, STEM stations, and science programs!
Discover how we select and curate the Blueberry list and the Best Nature Board Books so you can be sure you are using the best new books available!
Plan how to support the teachers and kids in your center as they grow in their love of nature with Blueberry titles right away!
All sessions are 1.5 hours long and include a brief announcement from our sponsor.
