Warren Buckleitner, founder and editor of Children’s Technology Review, will discuss 2013 technology trends, future directionsof 2014, and the importance of integrating technology in early childhood programs. Applying child development theory as a framework, his presentation shares ideas educators can use to create engaging and innovate learning experiences with young children that compliment other hands-on educational experiences. This discussion exposes educators to the current teaching strategies that incorporate technology in early childhood environments and the possibilities of the future.
With each passing year, new ideas are explored that present ways to use digital devices as tools to help early childhood professionals in the classroom. Using child development theory and developmentally appropriate practice as a foundation, Buckleitner will discuss the role of digital tools in:
• Creating engaging and educational experiences for young children that balance with other hands-on learning experiences
• Helping educators with management, organization, and professional learning
• Building on teachers’ pedagogy
