A growing body of research substantiates what early care and education professionals have always known: Nothing is as important as relationships between caregivers, children, and families. Our experiences during the most challenging days of the COVID-19 pandemic only underscored the necessity of supportive connections. During this challenging period, representatives from various home-visiting models collaborated to determine the most effective ways to support families from diverse backgrounds with unique needs. A significant issue from these discussions was the need for effective training for home visitors, coaches, and supervisors across different models. The result of these discussions coalesced in a new book, “Coaching in Home Visiting: Supporting Better Outcomes for Professionals and Families.”
Join this enlightening webinar presented by the authors and early interventionists Christa Haring, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, and Angela Rau, MAT, to explore how supervisors can use actionable strategies to coach home visitors and principles and practices for coaching families of children from birth to 5 years. In this session, you will learn the parallel process involved in coaching families and the support provided by supervisors and coaches to home visitors. Christa and Angela will highlight the essential components of coaching and varied approaches to achieving desired parenting and child and family outcomes and explore how these practices contribute to the growth and development of home visitors and the families they support.
You will learn to:
- Describe the growth construct behind coaching in the home visiting system.
- Differentiate the coach’s identity when coaching home visitors and families.
- Identify the variation of coaching approaches for the designed outcome.
- Identify the standard components of coaching and their contribution to growth outcomes.
