The information below is provided by Hawaii Teacher Standards Board: Renewing a Standard License

In Hawaii, certified public school teachers (including those in early childhood education) do not have a required number of professional development hours to renew their Standard or Advanced Teaching License. Instead, renewal is based on meeting these criteria with the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB):

  1. At least one full year of P–12 teaching experience within the past five years.

  2. Passing the HTSB Professional Fitness check, confirming good moral character.

In Hawaii, early childhood educators in private family child care report their training to the Department of Human Services, but there is no specific mandated annual professional development hours required for those holding HTSB teaching licenses, including early childhood endorsements—renewal is based primarily on teaching experience and performance rather than completing PD hours.
