State Requirements
Idaho teachers must complete 6 semester credits of professional development every 5 years to remain licensed to instruct in the state. These credits need to be educationally related to the individualized professional learning plan (IPLP) or the professional practice of the educator.
Additional requirements include:
3 credits must be transcribed and completed through an accredited college or university.
Credits must be tied to content areas or areas of endorsement.
Credits must be specific to pedagogical best practices or administrative or teacher leadership.
Credits must be tied to a specific area of need designated by district administration.
Idaho district, charter, or private school in-service hours can be applied towards up to 3 credits, where 15 contact hours are equivalent to 1 semester credit hour.
