Our focus with Teachable Moments in Early Childhood will enable leaders and administrators to build teacher awareness in regards to the endless teachable moments that occur throughout each day in your early childhood program. Jenne Parks, Content Specialist for Hatch Early Childhood, will lead a discussion on the subject of recognizing and taking advantage of the teachable moments that early childhood educators sometimes overlook. Jenne will provide techniques, cues, modeling tips, and hints that can increase the social, emotional and academic development of young learners.
In this session we will describe how to help teachers use teachable moments through four components:
Descriptions: Brief descriptions of the skills that typically need attention in early childhood settings.
Tipping Points: Examples of what it looks/sounds like when children struggling with skills, tasks, or concepts.
Teacher training: Information about why the opportunities to seize teachable moments are important to the development of young children.
Intentional strategies: The techniques, cues, modeling tips, and hints teachers can integrate into classrooms and programs to enhance social, emotional and academic development.
