All children should have the opportunity to move and be active throughout the day. The rich art form of dance/creative movement is a lively physical activity that nurtures imagination and has the potential to offer experiences in all early childhood content areas. As a longtime dance educator, Connie Bergstein Dow believes that dance can and should be accessible to young children, so teachers can give them the gift of movement and at the same time integrate learning across subject areas. Connie will demonstrate a wealth of ideas for presenting age-appropriate kinesthetic learning opportunities to young children, with an emphasis on math and language arts concepts.
Children are naturally full of energy, so movement is an ideal vehicle for participatory learning when exploring subjects throughout the early childhood curriculum. Current research continues to emphasize the importance of keeping children active, not only for physical development, but also for cognitive and social and emotional development.
Many teachers are unfamiliar with teaching structured movement activities, but they will be surprised at how straightforward a process it can be. In this webinar, Connie will show how dance can be an accessible and useful tool for teachers while making learning fun for young children.
