State Requirements

The information below is provided by Delaware.gov, Continuing License

The Department may renew a current Continuing License for an additional five years for a qualified educator who has fulfilled the 90 clock hour requirement for professional development and all other applicable requirements. At least one-half of the required clock hours (45 every 5 years) for educators shall be earned by activities relating to the educator’s work with students or staff. Satisfactory evidence of such completion should be submitted to the Department in DEEDS with the application for renewal. The 90 clock hours of professional development must have taken place during the term of the current Continuing License.

The Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing requires that all childcare providers complete professional development annually in at least three of the following eight training topics:

  • Child Development

  • Developmental Curriculum Planning/Environment and Curriculum

  • Observation and Assessment

  • Positive Behavior Management/Social-Emotional Development

  • Health, Safety, Physical Activity, and Nutrition

  • Family and Community

  • Professionalism

  • Management and Administration
