State Requirements
The information below is provided by the Arkansas Department of Education: Division of Elementary & Secondary Education:
Each educator shall obtain 36 hours of professional development annually. These 36 hours of professional development shall include—at a minimum—the professional development required by law or rule. School districts are responsible for monitoring and verifying the completion of professional development hours.
Professional development required by licensed teachers, on a 5 year rotation:
Mandated Reporters: This training is designed to make one aware of signs of child maltreatment (2 hours).
Mental Health Awareness: This training is designed to identify early warning signs regarding mental health, suicide, and prevention (2 hours).
Teen Suicide Awareness and Prevention: This training is designed to identify early warning signs regarding suicide, and prevention (2 hours).
Bullying Prevention: The training outlines requirements for schools and personnel regarding bullying incidents, as well as prevention (2 hours).
