Bio
Susan Lewis is a former preschool special education teacher, mentor, and faculty member who has spent the past two decades supporting early childhood professionals across classrooms, programs, and systems. She is the founder of ECEPD (Early Childhood Education Professional Development), a mission-driven organization that offers honest, accessible, and practical training for teachers, leaders, and coaches working in early care and education.
Susan brings lived experience from all levels of the field—classroom teacher, program leader, coach, state-level mentor, and university instructor—and grounds her work in the real challenges educators face every day. She believes professional development should support growth, not just compliance, and centers her work on connection, reflection, and actionable tools that can be used immediately.
She previously supported statewide initiatives with the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood at the University of Delaware and served as a Quality Education Mentor for the Arizona Department of Education. Susan holds a master’s degree in Applied Technology in Education and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Early Childhood Policy and Systems, where her research focuses on the well-being of early childhood teachers and leaders within the context of state and federal policy.
At the heart of Susan’s work is a simple but powerful belief: when we support the adults, we create stronger, more connected environments for children to thrive.
