Dr. Mary Stansbury is an associate professor and department chair in the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. She has developed the first Early Childhood Librarianship Master’s program in the country, in partnership with early childhood educators, literacy and child development researchers, public libraries, and early literacy advocacy groups. Dr. Stansbury is currently a research consultant to the Colorado State Library on a federally funded project designed to improve the techniques libraries use to connect with low income families and support their early literacy needs. She has a PhD and MLS from Texas Woman’s University and a BA from the University of Texas at Austin. Mary was a school librarian in Texas and serves in leadership positions in a number of professional organizations. In addition to her work in early childhood librarianship, Mary has conducted research on the Digital Divide and its impact on low income populations.
