Bio
Lisa Agogliati is an early childhood educator with over 30 years of experience in the field. Her work in early childhood education began with designing and implementing integrated arts programs for children who are Deaf, and later expanded into programming for schools using emergent curriculum as well as enrichment opportunities for children with disabilities. After 20 years in this setting, she moved on to teaching at a school founded on the value of how children learn through play, as well as a commitment to the inclusion of children who benefit from additional supports and adaptations. During her 17 years as a Directing Teacher, she has developed teacher training resources on drama and literacy in early childhood, emergent curriculum, and documentation. In 2018 she became the school’s Pedagogista, and works collaboratively with each teaching team to support the process of implementing emergent curriculum in a play-based environment as well as educating families about the process of inquiry-based learning. Recently, she co-authored with Heather Jackson Actions of Play: Weaving Play Schemas into Inquiry-Based Learning and Project Work, which documents her action research project at NCRC on the role of play schemas in developing emergent curriculum.
