Kelly Pollitt is the Chief Strategist for Policy and Alliances at the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and leads all efforts related to policy, advocacy, and project-based efforts designed to build the capacity of principals as the catalyst for school improvement. Her work to support policy and advocacy initiatives uphold the association’s mission to lead in the advocacy and support of the nation’s Pre-K-8 elementary and middle level principals as the national representative before the United States Congress and the Executive Branch. With two decades of experience in developing policy and advocating for federal education reform, Kelly now works primarily with elementary and middle level principals to help shape education reform initiatives from a school-based instructional leadership perspective and integrates a student-centered focus. Her work at NAESP over the past five years established NAESP’s first policy vision and framework “Recruiting, Preparing, and Building the Capacity of Principals: Eight Evidence-Based Recommendations for Federal Policymakers”.
