Bio
Heather Jackson is an early childhood educator with over 40 years of experience in the field. She has an advanced certificate in Early Childhood Administration and a certificate in Accounting for a small business. She has been researching and working in the Reggio Inspired Approach for 20 years within a nonprofit community agency for families and currently is the founder and Executive Director of a preschool with over 230 children (infants, preschoolers, and before and after school programming) and 40 educators. The Co-Presenter has been fortunate to attend two Reggio Emilia study tours in Italy and attends many of the North American Reggio conferences in Canada and the US.
As the curriculum lead, she works with educators on a yearly intentions plan for programming, new team members shadow her work in the classrooms, and attends weekly planning, design meetings with educators in all age groups. During the past ten years, she has been providing workshops and consulting sessions outside of her school within the early childhood community on the Reggio-inspired work of children, including Teacher as Researcher sessions, Introduction to Project work for Early Childhood, Loose Parts for Toddlers, How to Use Play Schemas in Your Work with Young Children, and documentation sessions for educators. Most recently, the Co-Presenter has written an article about relationships with the languages of materials that was published in a national journal and co-authored a publication about her extensive research on incorporating play schemas in early childhood curriculum and project.
