Nell K. Duke, Ed.D. is a professor in language, literacy, and culture and the combined program in education and psychology at the University of Michigan. She focuses on early literacy development, particularly among children living in poverty. She is a co-author Connect4Learning, a PreK curriculum, and a professional development resource for child care providers called The ABCs of Emergent Literacy. She is also co-author of a book for parents, Beyond Bedtime Stories: A Parent's Guide to Promoting Reading, Writing, and Other Literacy Skills From Birth to 5, now in its second edition.
