Steven Dick, Ph.D. (Michigan State) is an experienced project manager, data scientist, and surveyor in media, social services, and education initiatives. Dick is now the owner of Modern Metrics Barn providing customized research services to media, education, and philanthropic organizations.
After seven years in television and 15 years as a professor, Dick joined an education research center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The center provided external evaluation and grant-based research services. Dick leveraged his experience in social science methodology and statistical analysis to problems facing schools and social services.
Over the last 27 years, Dick has published more than 70 journal articles, book chapters, and research reports. At University of Louisiana Lafayette and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, he helped more than 80 students compete thesis or dissertations and regularly serves as an external reviewer for academic journals and conferences. He serves on statewide boards seeking to improve children’s health and emotional needs.
His most recent publications include works in Education Law Reporter and Criminal Justice Studies. He completed major reports evaluating the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, The Leader in Me, and Lafayette Parish In-school Tutoring. He served on a USAid project to help the business community and the census bureau of Zanzibar.
In January 2019, Dick established Modern Metrics Barn to continue bringing authoritative program evaluation, quantitative analysis, survey management, technical reports, and data visualizations.
