This webinar is sponsored by Fred Rogers Center .
In 1983, Fred Rogers delivered his first keynote address for the National Association for the Education of Young Children, where he asked the audience, “Do you ever wonder if you have made a difference?” More than three decades later, that question continues to resonate among many early childhood educators.
This webinar is a reflection and discussion of what it means to make a difference in today’s early care and education contexts. Presenters Dana Winters, Ph.D., from the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media, and Junlei Li, Ph.D., from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, will discuss:
- What does making a difference look like in simple, everyday teacher-child interactions?
- What enhances or limits our ability to recognize the impact we make?
- How do we help each other to appreciate and grow the kind of practices that make a positive impact on children and families?
The discussion is based and informed on their collaborative work on “Simple Interactions”, a practice-based, strength-focused, and community- driven approach to appreciate and strengthen the quality of human interactions across developmental contexts, particularly in early care and education.
Join this webinar to …
- Reflect on your own professional experience working directly with children and families
- Extend your experience supporting children to supporting adult staff in coaching and supervision
- Think about how our existing system both supports and limits how we understand “the difference we make” for children, families, and each other.
