FEATURING NATURAL LEARNING EXPERTS: Megan Gessler, Anne, Mead, and Amanda Higgins
This unique webinar, presented by authors from The Environmental Kinship International (EKI), will be the first of two that will share the concepts from their new framework for nature-based early childhood educators. The Children’s Environmental Kinship Guide presents an overarching nature-based pedagogy with every-day pragmatic examples for educators and administrators alike. The guide highlights intentional practices from a variety of places, cultures, population densities, and communities in the hopes of creating an international dialog on fostering environmental kinship in the early years. The authors will walk you through conception, philosophy, usage, stories, and aspirations for the future.
In this first session, the authors will share the origin of this new approach to nature pedagogy, why a specific framework is needed for educators in nature-based programs, how the Guide can be used, and the resources to support its use.
The second webinar, which will cover the practical aspects of applying this framework in the classroom will be held on March 30, 2022.
Join this webinar to learn:
- The need for and importance of pedagogical framing specifically for early childhood nature programs.
- How to use the Guide.
