Patrick Makokoro has extensive experience working in community development and relief projects, in partnership with both local community based and international non-governmental organizations. He is a dedicated child rights activist and passionate about early childhood development and social justice issues. His experience working with children at an orphanage in Zimbabwe in 2007 led him to establish the Nhaka Foundation, a charitable organization that provides education, meals, health care, counseling, and other essential services to orphaned and vulnerable children throughout Zimbabwe. In 2012, he founded the Zimbabwe Network of Early Childhood Development Actors (ZINECDA), a national umbrella organization for Early Childhood Development actors. Patrick Makokoro is a Founding member of the African Early Childhood Network which works to champion provision of early childhood development services for young children in Africa.
Patrick Makokoro serves as a Board Member of the World Forum Foundation (US),Nhaka Foundation and ZINECDA. He also serves as a Zimbabwe country liaison for the Association of Childhood Education International (US). He has a BA in Community Development, a Graduate Diploma in International Youth and Child Care from University of Victoria, Canada and a MSc in Development Studies(Zim). He is currently working on a PhD in Educational Leadership with the University of Victoria, Canada.
