Movement activities are mainstays of early childhood practice, but teaching children to be “in the moment” may be a new twist for you and everyone in your program. This innovative webinar will help you explore the concept of mindfulness and the practice of yoga. With a few simple practices to you, the children, and the staff can begin enjoying the benefits of these peaceful practices. In addition to the physical motion involved in yoga, Mindfulness provides a number of benefits to young children including a significant decrease in challenging behaviors and an increase in kindness and compassion. When educators combine mindfulness practices, along with an increased connection to the natural world, young children, and their educators thrive and grow together.
Participants will leave the webinar with engaging and joyful mindfulness experiences that they can apply in their programs right away and leadership approaches for integrating mindfulness into the fabric of early learning centers. They will also have a deeper understanding of the benefits of and strategies for engaging staff and children in practicing mindfulness together.
Objectives: Participants in this session will learn:
- The benefits of creating a culture of yoga and mindfulness in their early childhood programs;
- Practical steps for leaders to build a culture of mindfulness and yoga practices;
- New ideas, tools, and practices to use with children, staff, and families in their programs and classrooms.
All sessions are 1.5 hours long, and include a brief announcement from our sponsor.
