This webinar is sponsored by Free Spirit Publishing.
Back for their second Early Childhood Investigations webinar, movement authority Gill Connell and her co-author Cheryl McCarthy discuss the every day opportunities, real-world practicalities, and proven techniques for infusing movement into any early learning environment.
As discussed in their first Free Spirit Publishing webinar, A Moving Child Is a Learning Child, movement is the untold story of early childhood learning. By nature’s design, movement fosters the development of neural pathways which serve as the foundations for all formal and informal learning.
In this second webinar, the authors show how easy it is to leverage movement as a learning tool, providing proven solutions for the classroom, the playground, and at home for children, birth to 7 years. Topics include: “Read the Moves” insights, “Can Do” assessment and individualization tools, and Kinetic Scale lesson planning. In addition, guidelines for creating a movement-friendly environment, managing safety, and teaching techniques to build confidence and self-esteem will be demonstrated through a wide variety of activities you can employ in your classroom tomorrow morning.
Objectives:
- Explore practical applications of The Kinetic Scale and the Can-Do Movement Guide for the classroom.
- Lesson Planning: Using The Kinetic Scale to build a well-balanced movement diet.
- Individualization: Modifying active play activities to any child’s individual capabilities.
- Teaching Techniques: Proven techniques for optimal development and early learning
- Safety Considerations: How to manage risk in a move-to-learn environment.
