This session is sponsored by the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education
Join this webinar to follow infants and toddlers on an amazing journey as they construct concepts and theories during play. Inspired by teachers in Reggio Emilia, Italy, Mary Jane Maguire-Fong will use photo documentation to observe infants and toddlers at play.
In this webinar, you will:
- reflect on how infants and toddlers reveal their thinking through play
- explore how to use documentation to:
- plan curriculum,
- assess infants’ and toddlers’ learning,
- and engage their families.
Scientists who study how infants learn describe them as scientists who seek to make sense of the world around them. Building on this research, we will explore a reflective approach to teaching and learning that redefines curriculum as contexts for learning. Within these contexts — the play spaces, the care routines, and the mindful conversations and interactions we pursue with them – we will propose possibilities for inviting infants and toddlers to go deeper in their research, and in so doing, discover what it means to teach and to learn when working with children birth to 3.
All sessions are 1.5 hours long, and include a brief announcement from our sponsor.
2:oo PM – 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
