This webinar is sponsored by Second Step, an initiative of Committee for Children.
Research shows that social and emotional skills are as important to school performance as academic readiness skills. Teachers can support all children, especially children children with challenging behavior as they work to develop their internal controls—and at the same time direct them onto a more positive emotional and educational trajectory by teaching social and emotional skills—the behaviors, attitudes, and words that allow us to initiate and maintain positive social relationships.
Children can learn pro-social and emotional skills simply by being in a group, but they learn much more when you teach these skills proactively. Giving them formal status in the program makes your teaching intentional and explicit rather than hidden, highlights their value, and amplifies the classroom’s pro-social ambiance. Children can then learn the behaviors, attitudes, and words that allow them to initiate and maintain positive social relationships, and teachers maintain emotionally healthy environments that foster learning, acceptance, and tolerance.
Join this comprehensive and powerful webinar, presented by early childhood social emotional expert, Barbara Kaiser, to learn what children need to know and what you need to do.
