Shaniquia Phoenix.is currently the Early Childhood Program Director of Help Daycare Corporation- Morris Early Childhood Program in the South Bronx. She has been devoted to the field of early childhood education since 2002 in a number of different positions. With a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Mercy College, a School Leadership Advanced Certificate from Bank Street College of Education, a NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education, Birth- 2nd Grade and a School Building Leader (SBL) Certification, she has effectively supported teachers and other early childhood staff by inspiring them to be continuous learners and in turn become effective leaders themselves.
As an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Leader, she is ultimately responsible for the learning, safety, and emotional growth of children and adults. Developing effective leaders in early childhood programs and running innovative high quality early childhood programs are a few of her areas of expertise. As an ECE leader her goal is to ensure that she helps shape other leaders and help them acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to succeed in the early childhood field.
Inspired by being a mom of three African-American boys, she advocates for equity in education. She believes that all educational leaders have to lead from a cognizant, culturally responsive direction. In order to achieve high levels of student academic success, she believes that educational leaders need to align their words and actions and not only say that they strive for equity but they also have to put action behind their words.
As an ECE leader she continues to inspire teachers and children while continuing to establish positive learning environments in which teachers and children can be continuous learners. Her ultimate goal is to provide an educational environment that will heighten children’s ability to embrace diversity, acclimate to change, and construct educational and social skills that will empower them as they continue on their educational journey.
