Derry Koralek is the President of DGK & Company, an early childhood educational consulting company. She is an author of the Redleaf Press publication, High-Quality Early Childhood Education, the What, Why, and How, co-written with Laura J. Colker and she and Colker just completed a new book, available April 2019, titled, Making Lemonade: Teaching Young Children to Think Optimistically. A new book on family engagement in early childhood education, co-authored by Karen Nemeth and Kelly Ramsey, will be published in June 2019 by NAEYC.
Recent work includes writing training materials for Early Head Start staff, through Zero to Three, a major revision of the textbook, Essentials for Working with Young Children, for the Council for Professional Recognition, and a chapter of a Pre-K implementation guide, for the state of New Jersey. In addition, she is the content expert for development of a digital product designed to encourage playful learning.
