Sarah Thompson is the Associate Director for Save the Children’s U.S. Programs, where she focuses on helping families and communities prepare for emergencies through the Get Ready Get Safe initiative. As a member of Save the Children’s Disaster Response Team, Sarah has responded to crises such as Hurricane Sandy, providing communities with critical on-the-ground services that help them recover and build back more resilient. In addition to writing articles featured in Save the Children’s National Report Card on Protecting Children in Disasters, her writings on emergency preparedness has been featured in CDC’s Public Health Matters blog and published in Teaching Young Children and Child Care Exchange. Sarah holds a Master’s degree in Communications from the Johns Hopkins University with a concentration in Health Communications. She also holds bachelor’s degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology from the College of William and Mary.
